The Ninth Life Longevity Dog and Longevity Cat whole-food vitamin/mineral supplement is a propriety blend. Our Longevity Dog and Cat are almost the same EXCEPT we eliminated kelp from the cat (too much iodine for cats) and added cranberry to boost their kidney health.

Organic Nutritional Yeast – A rich source of B vitamins, amino acids, selenium, chromium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium, manganese, iron, zinc, copper and other trace elements. B complex vitamins are vital to health of the nervous system. It is an excellent flea repellent.

Organic Lecithin – excellent source of Choline. Improves neurological functions especially those with cognitive disorders or senility. Also good for pets with fatty liver disease.

Organic Kelp – Kelp is a seaweed and is an excellent source of minerals from the sea, particularly iodine which is very important for the thyroid gland to function properly. The thyroid gland is an important regulator of metabolism and weight. The trace mineral content of kelp is one of the highest of any known single source. DOG ONLY

Organic Alfalfa – Alfalfa is widely recognized supplement from the legume family. It is a healthy nutritious source of chlorophyll, beta carotene, calcium, and the vitamins D, E, and K. Alfalfa is also promoted as a detoxifier as it cleanses the liver and blood, neutralizes bad breath and eases stomach aliments.

Organic Nettle – Nettle is rich in iron to help with the circulatory system. It is rich in Vitamin A, C, D, calcium, magnesium, Vitamin K1, potassium and zinc. These nutrients work together to promote the health of skin, bones, and joints and encourage a healthy immune and respiratory system. Also, nettle leaf contains flavonoids such as quercition, kaempferon, and rutin to help maintain healthy levels of histamine in the body. Nettle helps promote a healthy immune system.

Taurine - ​Taurine is an essential for retinal degradation or cardiomyopathy (swelling of the heart tissue) found in taurine-deficient cats and dogs. Dogs that are fed grain free diets are usually lacking Taurine and this can contribute to cardiomyopathy. In the wild animals get taurine from eating organ meat. 

Vitamins that are naturally occurring in our ingredients the way nature intended them to be absorbed :

Potassium – necessary for energy metabolism, nerve and muscle function and the control of the osmotic balance of body fluids.

Zinc – essential for maintaining a good coat and skin, and an essential component of many enzyme systems.

Selenium – Has important antioxidant properties by protecting the cell membranes. Important role in maintaining normal levels of thyroid hormones and the metabolism of iodine. Many pets with excessive shedding will show decreased shedding with increased selenium levels. There is evidence that selenium can protect against several types of cancers.

Chlorophyll - repairs cells, increases hemoglobin in the blood and speeds cell growth. Consider a super green food. The enzymes contained in super green foods aid in digestion and absorption of nutrients from the diet, assist in reducing oxidative injury to damaged tissues. Other beneficial effects include anti-tumor effect, protective effects against toxin induced kidney failure, enhanced effects on intestinal microflora, lowering of blood sugar, lowering of cholesterol, improved weight loss, lowering of high blood pressure, and antiviral activity. Also improves skin and coat conditions.

Beta Carotene – a powerful free radical scavenger. Crucial for proper eye function. Destroys cancer-causing agents, protects against heart disease and stroke, and lowers cholesterol.

Calcium - Calcium is essential in the body for many functions including bone formation, blood coagulation, muscle contraction, and nerve impulse transmission.

Chromium Regulates blood sugar.

Potassium – Necessary for energy metabolism, nerve and muscle function and the control of the osmotic balance of body fluids.

Magnesium – required for healthy bones and teeth, for the normal day to day functioning of the heart, muscle and nervous tissue, and is also involved in many enzyme reactions in the body.

Manganese - important in growth, bone development, reproduction, and central nervous system.

Iron – Necessary for hemoglobin (in the blood) and myoglobin (in the muscle), oxygenation of red blood cells, energy production and a healthy immune system, helps in protein metabolism and promotes growth.

Copper – Involved in the normal activity of red blood cells and many enzyme systems. It is needed for healthy nerves and joints.

Vitamin A - Important for proper vision, healthy skin and coat, mucous membranes, and normal bone and teeth development.

Vitamin B – vital to the health of the nervous system.

Vitamin C – helps build better bones, boosts the immune system and contributes to a healthy heart. It also helps heal wounds, strengthens blood vessels and aids eyesight. Beneficial in reducing chronic inflammation. Required for the production and maintenance of collagen, a protein substance that forms the base for all connective tissues in the body – bones, teeth, skins and tendons. A lack of collagen causes the walls of the body’s blood capillaries to break down and hemorrhaging occurs in cells throughout the body.

Vitamin C is a key antioxidant, providing the body’s main defense against free radicals which are produced continually within our bodies. Vitamin C scavenges free radicals and cleans up waste products. In addition Vitamin C benefits many other body functions.

Vitamin D - plays a major role in regulating the calcium and phosphorous levels within the bloodstream. Vitamin D stimulates the kidney conservation of calcium and therefore helps the body to retain it. Because of its interplay with calcium, Vitamin D is extremely important in bone formation and nerve and muscle control.

Vitamin K regulates blood clotting and other clotting factors. Essential for kidney function and bone metabolism.

Flavonoids - possesses antioxidant and free radical scavenging activity, reduces cholesterol buildup in the arteries by diminishing the amount that blood clots and relaxes cardiovascular pathways.
